The Hero defends with 1 combat die. To break free of the spell, the Hero, on his turn, rolls 1 red die for every Mind Point he currently has. If a 6 is rolled on any die, the spell is broken and the Hero can move attack normally again on future turns. Mirror Magic: This spell may be cast by a Chaos spellcaster during a Hero’s turn.

This enables the spellcaster to reflect any Hero’s spell back to him. Mirror Magic is cast immediately after the Hero casts a spell at the Chaos spellcaster. Well in the original hero quest, the game master is more like a referee than a player that wants to win.From what I understood, the expansion seemed like each player now had objectives to win.Which made me wonder if heroscape system could not be used with the heroquest land scape where each player has a team of characters facing each other in the dungeon.An option could be that one player could have access to the map layout and could make some rooms appear on the board to spawn the content of the room on the board and have mini to play with.
